New Releases And Developments!

Here's a fun thing: "Lint-Head Gal", co-written with Phoebe Hunt, Heather Robb, and Dominick Leslie.  It's about Sean Mullins' grandmother - this video will explain more...

Warning: emotional content.  Here's a debut MUSIC VIDEO for a song I co-wrote and produced for one of my all-time favorite humans, Heather Robb.  We accidentally starred in our own breakup video, but we genuinely didn't know it at the time.  Life imitating art?  We shared a lot of love, wouldn't trade our years together for anything, and are proud of this song and video.  More on Heather below:

This past fall, I had the great pleasure of being 1/4 of a quartet to record a new record for brilliant old-time fiddler and songstress Rayna Gellert.  Here's a video of us by the fire, doing the title track off the critically-acclaimed record, available HERE.

Also last year, I had the pleasure of producing and mixing a debut album for a very special artist named Molly Tuttle

And that record is coming out at last!  I can't wait for the world to discover this girl.  UPDATE: world discovering, just as I predicted -  Congrats, Molly, on 3 IBMA Award nominations and on winning GUITAR PLAYER OF THE YEAR.

Please check it out and pre-order at her website.

Also last year, I produced a record with another very special lady, the aforementioned Heather Robb.  Heather is a deeply moving singer and songwriter - I'm so proud of her and proud of this record we made together.  Go get it here, preview it below.

Still with me?  I'm throwing a lot at you.  Go at your own pace.  Get a snack if you need one.

Another record I got to produce and mix this year has just been made available for public consumption.  It is by my beloved Kung-Fu-Indie-Rock-Appalachian trio, called The Wu- Force.  The Wu-Force is clawhammer banjoist Abigail Washburn, Chinese guzhengist Wu Fei, and myself.  We make music that is.. different.  Not your average juke joint jams.

Get this fantastical weird experimental emotional spirited fun E.P. HERE, and enjoy the music video we made with videographer and TED fellow Joey Ellis, for the song "Paper Lanterns":

I'm currently mixing and mastering two more records I produced, one by a groovy Austin-based Americana trio called Odell Fox, and one by a great post-bluegrass band from Denver, CO called The Railsplitters.  They will be coming out in the summer.

And finally, ONE MORE fun thing I've been up to: some gigs with the amazing Kacey Musgraves' band!  Here's proof: me being very proud of myself for not fucking up a nylon-string guitar solo at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas:

I truly consider myself a lucky person.  It's been a busy time making music with people I love.  I couldn't ask for anything more.

Head over to the Music For Wild Places page to learn more about our recent journey to Tibet - and join the mailing list so you don't miss out on limited opportunities - very exciting Music For Wild Places trips are on the docket for next summer, and open to the public.

Thank you for visiting.
